What is the Flu Shot?

Flu shots are typically administered with a needle in the arm. Seasonal flu shots protect against the three or four most common influenza viruses.

Who Should Get the Flu Shot?

All healthy people should receive their yearly flu vaccine, but it is especially important for the following people to receive the vaccine:

  • Adults over 65 years of age
  • Pregnant women
  • Caregivers
  • Healthcare professionals
  • People who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease.

Who Should Not Get the Flu Shot?

Please consult with one of our providers if you meet any of the following criteria

  • Children under six months of age
  • People known to have severe reaction to the flu shot
  • People allergic to chicken eggs
  • Healthcare professionals
  • People with a current illness or rever.

Will I get the flu from the shot?

No. Flu vaccines use inactivated viruses that are not infectious.
